Every great campaign starts somewhere, and ours began with a lifelong love for all things tabletop. I’m the founder of Purple Penguin Games, and at 45 years old, I’ve spent just about my entire life rolling dice, shuffling decks, and getting lost in fantastic worlds.

Here is a little bit about who I am, why this store exists, and what you can expect when you shop with us.

The Origin Story

My journey into the hobby started back in the days of Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition. There was something deeply magical about sitting around a table with character sheets, a handful of polyhedral dice, and limitless imagination. That sparked a passion that has only grown stronger over the decades.

Being autistic, my passions run deep. When I love a hobby, I dive in completely. This store is an extension of that hyper-focus and joy. I don't just sell gaming gear; I collect it, study it, and play with it. Whether it's organizing my massive comic book collection—with a special affinity for Spider-Man and Deadpool—sorting through my trading card binders, or managing my digital anime library, I celebrate the geeky things in life.

What's with the Name?

The name "Purple Penguin" is pretty simple: I absolutely love penguins. When it came time to name the shop, I wanted something that felt personal, memorable, and a little bit quirky. The penguin became the mascot, and purple just felt like the perfect, regal color for a store offering premium dice and tabletop treasures.
